Township of Lake of Bay Council and Staff are pleased to announce that, through the dedicated contributions of local businesses, organizations, and individuals, the Operation Facelift fundraiser aimed at enhancing the Lake of Bays Community Centre in Baysville has surpassed its goal.

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of our dear colleague and Building Official at the Township of Lake of Bays. Mirella Lisi passed away after a brief illness on July 20, 2023.

The District of Muskoka is working towards reducing greenhouse gas emissions within the community and seeks input from residents and stakeholders to shape its strategy.

The Ministry of Natural Resources has lifted the Restricted Fire Zone for our area. The Muskoka Association of Fire Chiefs will be removing the fire ban for the District of Muskoka. The Fire rating is now set at MODERATE.

The Huntsville/Lake of Bays Fire Department recently accepted delivery of their newly purchased extrication equipment, commonly known as the Jaws of Life.

Environment Canada has issued a heat warning for the Lake of Bays region. A multi-day heat event is currently underway, and temperatures ranging from 29 to 33 degrees Celsius (with a humidex of 37 to 42) are expected to persist until Thursday, July 6, 2023.

The Huntsville/Lake of Bays Fire Department has postponed the Baysville Canada Day Fireworks event, originally scheduled for Saturday, July 1st, due to current fire safety concerns.

The 2023 Calcium Chloride Application Program for approximately 100km of township gravel roads has commenced and is expected to be finished by June 22, 2023.

Scammers have been posing as representatives of the Huntsville/Lake of Bays Fire Department, attempting to deceive residents into making donations for wildfire efforts.
