Around 11:39 a.m. on February 14, the Huntsville/Lake of Bays Fire Fighters responded to a structure fire on North Waseosa Lake Road in Huntsville.
Upon arrival, firefighters discovered a working fire in the kitchen. Fire crews acted quickly to contain the fire and avoid the flames spreading to other parts of the home. The fire has been extinguished and there is no danger to neighbouring properties.
On February 13th, 2024, the Corporation of the Township of Lake of Bays approved its 2024 Operating and Capital Budget. The 2024 budget contains a 9.06% tax rate increase over 2023, but due to the Township having the 2nd lowest residential tax rate in all of Muskoka, the estimated tax increase to a residential property valued at $300,000 will only be $52.77 per year or $4.40 per month for those who pay their property taxes monthly.
