    Dwight Beach Welcomes Tree Carvings by Award-Winning Chainsaw Carver

    Iconic Dwight Beach is now home to two unique carvings, crafted by world-class chainsaw carving talent Jake Rhodes of Northern Rhodes Artistry in Wood. These impressive works were carved from eastern white pines that needed to be cut down the year prior.

    TAKE NOTICE that the Corporation of the Township of Lake of Bays proposes to install an accessible on-street parking space at Dwight Beach. Pursuant to Section 80.39 of O.Reg. 191/11 under the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act, 2005, the municipality is consulting with the public and persons with disabilities before creating an accessible on-street parking space on Dwight Beach Road.

  • Public Notice: Road Licensing Agreement Program Paused; New By-law Established for Road Allowance Purchasing

    During the regular council meeting held on August 13, 2024, Township of Lake of Bays Council approved a temporary suspension, known as a moratorium, on the Township’s Road Licensing Agreement Program. This moratorium is set for 180 days and applies to all existing private roads and driveways under By-law 2019-136 that are utilizing an unopened Township road allowance as a means of vehicular access to their property.

    The Huntsville/Lake of Bays Fire Department has been actively responding to incidents this summer where children have been accidentally locked inside vehicles. These situations can be extremely dangerous, especially during hot weather. We urge parents and caregivers to take precautions to prevent such incidents and ensure the safety of their little ones.

    Media Release: No Working Smoke Alarms in Basement at House Fire on Domtar Road

    On July 24th around 7:30 pm Huntsville/Lake of Bays Fire Fighters from Station One in Huntsville and Station Five in Port Sydney responded to reports of an electrical panel producing sparks and smoke in the basement of a home on Domtar Road.  

    Upon arrival, firefighters discovered smoke on the ground floor coming out of the basement. The fire was contained to the electrical panel and did not spread to other parts of the home.

    Port Cunnington Lodge Raises $24,000 for Local Charities and Seniors Centre Chair Lift Repair

    On June 22nd, 2024, Port Cunnington Lodge hosted a Dinner & Concert for Community Charities featuring musicians Marc Jordan and Amy Sky. The event raised $24,000, which was equally distributed between four local groups: the Lake of Bays Library, the Dorset Health Hub, the Lake of Bays Heritage Foundation, and the Port Cunnington Seniors Centre for the repairs of the facility's chair lift.
