Multi-day Heat Warning Declared for the Area
Environment Canada has issued a Heat Warning for the area with dangerously hot and humid conditions expected through most of the week (June 17-21 2024). Daytime highs through much of the week are expected to be 30 to 35 degrees Celsius with humidex values of 40 to 45 with little relief through the overnight.
Temperatures such as these can cause a very high risk of heat-related illness, including possible heat stroke.
The public is welcome to cool off in the air-conditioned environment at public Township facilities, such as the Dwight Branch and Baysville Branch Public Libraries, and the Lake of Bays Community Centre in Baysville, during regular business hours.
During hot weather, stay cool indoors as much as you can, drink lots of fluids, and limit outdoor activities if possible.
