Media Release: Funding Available for Watershed Health Projects in Second Intake of Environmental Grant Program

(Lake of Bays, ON) The second intake for the Environmental Projects Grant Program is now open, accepting applications for three key funding streams focused on environmental initiatives in Lake of Bays. This round introduces the new Watershed Fund, which offers up to $5000 for projects aimed at protecting and restoring watershed health and improving water quality in the Township.

During this intake, program administrators will be seeking projects that align with the fund’s goals and demonstrate a clear benefit to the ecosystem and/or watersheds in Lake of Bays. Priority will be given to initiatives that support, sustain, promote, celebrate, preserve or educate about:

• Erosion control and sustainable watershed management.
• The conservation, restoration, or enhancement of biodiversity or the habitat. 

“Our beautiful environment, the heart and soul of Lake of Bays, is changing. As a community, we must work hard to preserve it and be good stewards of this land for future generations,” said Terry Glover, Mayor of the Township of Lake of Bays. “I know many dedicated individuals and groups in the area who tirelessly sacrifice their time and energy to sustain what makes our home so special. This program gives us the opportunity to support them by helping overcome the one challenge that often stands in the way: funding.”

Intake for the Habitat, Biodiversity and Watershed Fund is open until December 31st, 2024, and interested parties are invited to review the program’s guidelines and submit their application.
