State of Emergency Declared: Stay Home
The District of Muskoka has declared a State of Emergency in response to a severe ice storm that swept through the District from March 28 to 30, causing widespread power outages, downed trees and hydro lines, and hazardous road conditions.
➡️ Residents are urged to stay home and off the roads. Many roads are blocked or reduced to one lane with crews reporting actively falling trees and live hydro lines.
➡️ Travelling could leave you stranded, and emergency services may be delayed.
Recommendations from the OPP:
Beware of falling trees and power lines. For non-emergencies involving downed power lines, contact Hydro One at 1-800-434-1235. Only call 911 for life-threatening emergencies.
Stay safe and keep your 72-hour kits in mind.
