Update: District Declares Significant Weather Event | Flood Warning In Effect Until April 4

The Ministry of Natural Resources (MNR) has issued a Flood Warning for the area. This bulletin is in effect for watersheds across the Township of Lake of Bays until Friday, April 4, 2025.

Residents should expect water levels to increase: flooding is anticipated to varying degrees as a significant three-day rainfall, freezing rain, snow pellets and snow event moves through the area.

Residents and those visiting the area are advised to be aware of current watershed conditions. Higher than normal water levels and flow conditions are anticipated to develop throughout the area and residents are reminded to keep a close watch on weather conditions, regularly check for updated messages, and exercise caution near fast-moving rivers and streams.

The District of Muskoka Declared Significant Weather Event

The District of Muskoka has declared a Significant Weather Event for all District roads, effective 8:30 am on Saturday, Mar. 29, 2025. The declaration is due to a Freezing Rain Warning issued by Environment Canada that forecasts a major ice storm this weekend with significant ice build-up that will impact road maintenance operations across the District.

Residents are advised to avoid all unnecessary travel on District roads to ensure safety while crews work hard to clear the roads. Winter maintenance operations may take longer during this event, so please be patient and stay safe.
